The Healing of the Mind Part 1

If a man thinks right, he will be right. If he thinks wrong, he will be wrong. If he thinks nothing, he will be nothing. As Emerson sated it, “A man is what he thinks about all day long.” The Word of God tells us that a man’s innermost thoughts determine what he is (Proverbs 23:7).

What a man thinks about himself will have a profound influence upon him. An unwarranted confidence will lead to a fall (1 Corinthians 10:12). On the other hand, a degraded opinion of himself can become a seed plot for the work of satan in his life. The Christian is commanded not to think more highly of himself than he ought (Romans 12:3). This admonition does not encourage a low estimation, but a true one. It actually indicates he is to think highly of himself only in agreement with Christ’s estimation of him.

The great problem lies in the fact that no one in himself is able to think rightly. The mind of man became devastated through the Fall of Adam. Man’s reasoning, rebellious thoughts, and imaginations become  strongholds  for the power of darkness. From these strongholds the wicked spirits can work havoc in the life and those that the life influences.

It is not difficult to cite symptoms which shows that the human mind is wrong. Here are a few: inability to think on God and meditate on His Word; proneness to think on that which is wrong; impure imaginations; prejudice and narrow-mindedness; intellectual dishonesty, hypocrisy; failure of memory;  inability to control the thinking.

The mind is the most important part of our being. A deficiency here affects not only the entire body but also the entire life. The healing of the mind is the great need of every individual. It is available to everyone who will have it. To accomplish this healing of the mind, four corrections are necessary: the mind must be changed, the mind must be renewed, the mind must be controlled, and the mind must be occupied.

This is the first of five messages to help those who are seeking healing for their minds. The devil doesn’t play fair and begins his attack on our minds almost instantly after we are born. But with the help of the Word of God and Spirit of God we can take back the ground of our minds that the devil has stolen.

The scripture above is my  true north when it comes to my writings. I have always been told to write books and sell them. But most of what I write has to do with the Word of God and therefore they are not my own revelation. My writings come from revelation given to me as I search out the Word of God by the Spirit of God. They are the “children’s bread” (Matthew 15:26). I believe that this bread should be given out freely so that my Father’s children, my brother’s and sisters are fed, nurtured and strengthened. For that reason this blog as well as others have been created.

Concerning the things that pertain to this life I trust the Lord and His Word:

Cast your bread upon the waters, for you will find it after many days.  Ecclesiastes 11: 1

For the Scripture says, “Do not muzzle an ox while it is treading out the grain,” and, “The worker is worthy of his wages.” 1 Timothy 5:18

Take no bag for the road, or second tunic, or sandals, or staff; for the worker is worthy of his provisions. Matthew 10:10

If we have sown spiritual seed among you, is it too much for us to reap a material harvest from you? 1 Corinthians 9:11

One who is taught the word must share all good things with the one who teaches. Do not be deceived: God is not mocked, for whatever one sows, that will he also reap. For the one who sows to his own flesh will from the flesh reap corruption, but the one who sows to the Spirit will from the Spirit reap eternal life. And let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up. So then, as we have opportunity, let us do good to everyone, and especially to those who are of the household of faith. Galatians 6:6-10
